Darlings Review And Ending Explained, New Movie Bollywood, Alia Bhatt

Darlings plot summary

'My Darling' on Netflix is now trending in the top 10 in India. Starring Alia Bhatt, the story revolves around Badru, a victim of domestic violence, who lives with Hamza.

He was bored with his last job and became an alcoholic to deal with his frustration. Good-hearted Badru believes that Hamza can still be saved, and although things improve for a while, they take a shocking, ugly turn when Badru goes down. Interestingly, the title comes from Badru's untutored language. For almost every English word he speaks, Badru feels the urge to put an "s" at the end of the word.

The film is stylized as a social issue think piece wrapped in a thrilling battle of life and death. Although Darlings remains largely in the vein of the past, different elements of tension enter the story. Under the able supervision of Jasmeet Reen, Darlings presents a powerhouse of action.

It's when we see our characters at their most vulnerable on screen that 'Sweethearts' shines brightest. In this section, we take a look at some of the film's deeper themes as we explain the intricacies and hidden meanings in the plot.

Why does Hamza become an alcoholic?

At the beginning of the story, Hamza proposes marriage to Badra and asks her to tell her mother that I have a government job.

Gets a job as a ticket checker in the railways. We see a visual of her cleaning a dirty bathroom. Later in the film, we see him explaining to Zulfi that the name of his work is just for the name. His real job is to serve his boss, Damle, who takes advantage of his seniority and the rich and toxic babu culture prevalent in Indian businesses.

Although it is not shown whether Hamza was already an alcoholic before marrying Badru, there is much evidence to support the idea that he converted after taking office. When he introduced himself to others as a "civil servant", he had different expectations and was probably tired of following his oppressive boss. He had big plans to build a bright future with Badru, but the lack of progress in that direction added to the frustrations.

How did Hamza know that Zulfi was the one who complained about him?

After Hamza was released from prison, Badru's mother immediately suspected that Shamshu had registered the complaint. But apparently, none of them complained and made him wonder who the real "culprit" was. Zulfi bribed the police officer to file a complaint by giving him a new mobile phone.

It served as a great defense against his personality. In India, the law stipulates that the identity of the complainant cannot be disclosed under any circumstances. So it was the duty of the police officer to respect the law regardless of what Hamza or anyone else gave him.

Instead, when Hamza offers to solve a crime in progress for the officer he's stuck with, he reports that Zulfi, who came to deliver Shamshu's biriyani at the station, complains.

Why does Badru want Hamza to sign a contract with the builder?

A recurring theme in the film is the contract that Hamza, who is in the building, refuses to sign on his own. Even when we first see Badru in his family home, he asks if Hamza agrees to meet the builder. In fact, the real explanation behind the matter is something like this. Badru and Hamza stay in Mumbai.

The city consists mainly of slums and slums, reflecting the plight of the poor. To change this, many large corporations, sometimes with government support, try to buy buildings and turn them into corporate offices or shopping malls.

In this case, Hamza was the only person who refused to accept the offer to move to a new house and allowed his house to be sold/rented out, as shown in the builder's presentation.

The new building will give him the lifestyle he always dreamed of. The luxuries he's only seen in movies and on TV will finally be at his disposal. We even have a few flashbacks where Badru imagines his life in the future in a new building with all the amenities.

  Reasons for Hamza's Kidnapping –
 Symbolism and Plot Observations

Badru was clearly a victim of domestic violence. What made matters worse was that after Hamza got married, Badru thought he had the right to insult her because he was her "property". It wasn't just alcohol that made him act like this, as he admits later in the film.

He was a violent man by nature. After he forces Badru down the stairs, paranoid that he is having an affair with Zulfi, she ends up in the hospital. He almost jumps out the window before realizing that he's not the one who should be suffering. Instead, he plans to teach Hamza a lesson through role reversal. He thinks that if Hamza takes over his position, he can understand the suffering better.

But the symbolism of how she keeps it — wrapped in dupattas and homemade knots — is fascinating. Reen does not want the audience to perceive Badru as a bad person like Hamza. Instead, he wants Badru's inner trouble to show itself and Hamza to show that he is not a frog. If need be, he can be his equal in what he did to her, and maybe even worse.

It highlights the spirit and consciousness developed in women to fight against gender-based injustices. It is the 21st century and there is no suggestion that women are already inferior to men.

The End of "Dear Ones" Revealed: Does Hamza commit suicide or is he killed?
When the police suspected some of Badru and Zulfi's illegal actions, they took the initiative to search his house. They found Zulfi there, but there was no sign of Hamza. Zulfi tells Shamshu and Badra that Gasmin opened him up with heavy doses of injections given to him by his friend at the mental asylum. Hamza arrives at the station and his slurred speech suggests that he is drunk again.

Badru and his colleagues are informed and he handles the situation intelligently.  Given that it was raining that night and he was drunk, the suspicion of foul play would have been avoided. But instead, Badru decides to give him a chance to leave and mention that he admitted to beating her and that he will be responsible if anything happens to Badru.

He is already tied to the trail, but Badru realizes that he is not a scorpion and frees him instead. Hamza accidentally crashes into an oncoming train and dies. It is later revealed that when Badru was filming the video, he only filmed the parts where Hamza appears to have committed suicide.

Her intention was to be free from Hamza forever, and luck played a big role in making her wish come true. To answer the question, Hamza was half killed and half committed suicide. His death does not fit any classification and must therefore be accepted in this altered state.
